Rams to lose WR Avery for season?
St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford showed the world Friday night that he’s ready to be in the NFL, leading his team to a 36-35 preseason victory over the New England Patriots. But wide receiver Donnie Avery’s game wasn’t as fortunate: He suffered a potential season-ending injury.
A source told FOX Sports that the team fears the injury to Avery’s right knee will keep him out the entire 2010 season. St. Louis coach Steve Spagnuolo called it a “significant knee injury.”
Avery led the team in receptions last year with 57. He had 53 as a rookie the year before. Thursday night, he had two catches for 48 yards before getting injured just before halftime.
Looks like fellow wide receivers Brandon Gibson and Mardy Gilyard will be getting more playing time.
